Per Arne Glorvigen is one of the most popular and richest Musician who was born on June 2, in Drammen, Buskerud, Norway.

He studied with Juan José Mosalini in France. In France he appeared with France Gall and Amelita Baltar. From he worked with Gidon Kremer and they formed the Astor-Quartet with Vadim Sakharov (piano) and Alois Pusch (double bass). With Kremer he recorded 4 CDs the first named “Hommage à Piazzolla.” Glorvigen has performed with BBC Symphony Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden and the Alban Berg Quartett. He has adapted organ music by J.S. Bach to the bandoneon.

Per Arne Glorvigen is among the foremost of todays bandoneon players.


His contact with this instrument began as late as at the age of 25 when he after having finished the State Academy of Music in Oslo, moved to Paris and met the Argentinian bandoneon maestro Juan José Mosalini.


After studying with Mosalini and after several stays in Buenos Aires, Glorvigen began his career as a professional bandoneonist. Meetings with tango legends Piazzolla, Pugliese, Salgán and close friendship with poet Horacio Ferrer were crucial.


In addition to playing tango, Glorvigen has expanded the repertoire of the bandoneon by playing everything from baroque, kletzmer, pop and last but not least; contemporary music. Composers like Willem Jeths (Holland), Bernd Franke (Germany), Henrik Hellstenius (Norway) and Luis Naon (Argentina / France) have all dedicated concertos to Glorvigen. Die Musik Astor Piazzollas nimmt in der Kompositionsgeschichte des Jahrhunderts eine besondere Rolle ein. Wie kaum ein anderer Kompo- nist versuchte er, seine musikalischen Wurzeln zu kappen. Trotzdem hat er einen eigenen Weg gefunden, diese mit neuen Formen zu verbinden, frei und unabhängig vom Zeitgeist.
Die Aufnahmen des Bandoneonisten Per Arne Glorvigen mit Gidon Kremer haben dazu beigetragen, dass Tango auch in grossen Konzertsälen geschätzt wird. Mit seinem Trio (Daniela Braun, Violine und Arnulf Ballhorn, Kontrabass) hat er den Pianisten Joachim Carr für dieses Programm eingeladen.
