Patrick Henry Brady
- In , he graduated from Seattle University with a degree in psychology and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps.
- In January of , Brady volunteered for Vietnam and was assigned to the 57th Medical Detachment Helicopter Ambulance under Major Charles Kelly. The units call-sign was Dust Off, a cry for help and was the most famous of all Vietnam call-signs.
- Brady returned to Vietnam on a second tour in with the 54th medical detachment whom he trained to use daring techniques never before attempted in combat.
- On October 9, , Brady was presented with the Medal of Honor by President Nixon.. During this dangerous mission, all three of Bradys aircraft had over bullet holes in them and two crew members were wounded, but they saved 51 seriously injured men who would have died had they not been rescued.
- In two tours in Vietnam, Brady flew over 2, combat missions, and rescued over 5, wounded.

From the battlefields of the Civil War to the jungles and rice paddies of Vietnam, the United States Army has led the world in adapting transport technology to the humanitarian goal of saving the lives of the sick and wounded. Drawing on its first experiments with helicopters during the Korean War, the Army came to rely almost entirely on the helicopter for medical evacuation in Vietnam. Using Bell’s new UH-1, “Huey,” the Army’s Dust Off and MEDEVAC helicopter ambulance units tested and perfected the tactics, techniques, and procedures that helped save between , and , allied military personnel and Vietnamese lives between and The pilots of these units displayed special valor and devotion to duty that earned widespread respect and gratitude among allied soldiers in Vietnam.

The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Major Patrick Henry Brady (ASN: ), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving with Medical Service Corps, 54th Medical Detachment, 67th Medical Group, 44th Medical Brigade, in action against enemy aggressor forces at Chu Lai, Republic of Vietnam, on 6 January Major Brady, commanding a UH-1H ambulance helicopter, volunteered to rescue wounded men from a site in enemy held territory which was reported to be heavily defended and to be blanketed by fog. To reach the site he descended through heavy fog and smoke and hovered slowly along a valley trail, turning his ship sideward to blow away the fog with the backwash from his rotor blades. Despite the unchallenged, close-range enemy fire, he found the dangerously small site, where he successfully landed and evacuated two badly wounded South Vietnamese soldiers. He was then called to another area completely covered by dense fog where American casualties lay only 50 meters from the enemy. Two aircraft had previously been shot
In January Brady volunteered for Vietnam and was assigned to the 57th Medical Detachment – Helicopter Ambulance, led by Major Charles Kelly. The unit’s call-sign was “Dust Off,” a cry for help that would become the most famous of all Vietnam call-signs.
On January 6, , Brady was rousted from off duty to help with an extraordinary causality situation. Despite repeated warnings that the missions were impossible – due to weather, the enemy, or land mines – on three different missions Brady extracted patients from areas where other aircraft had failed. For these actions Brady was awarded the Medal of Honor.
