García Lorca, Federico (–)
Spanish poet, playwright, musician, and artist.
Federico García Lorca is one of the great creative geniuses in the literary and cultural history of Spain, and, along with Miguel de Cervantes (–), his country's most celebrated and universal figure. One of the most striking characteristics of his creativity is his dazzling versatility. Primarily known for his poetry and theater, he was also an accomplished pianist, a composer of enduring popular songs, adept with the flamenco guitar and conversant with its culture, and a talented graphic artist, whose drawings and paintings have been increasingly recognized and acclaimed. This multifaceted talent gives a special vitality and richness to each of his creative dimensions. His drawings reflect and express the pain and private dilemma expressed in his poetry. His poetry skillfully exploits the lyric qualities of popular song and the dramatic possibilities of the folk ballad. And his theater enhances beautifully its dramatic portraits and representations with songs, lullabies, and lyric poetry.
Lorca's life and works must be understood against the background of an emerging modern Spain, underg

Miguel De Loarca was a book author and a captain among the first Spanish conquerors who successfully conquered the Philippines.
The first Philippine Spanish Governor General Miguel Lopez de Legaspi gave him a swath of land in Oton, Iloilo in June , one year after the establishment of the Spanish government in Manila.
Loarca was different from the other soldiers, explorers, and friars who like to amass wealth for themselves so that they can live an affluent life when they return to Spain and Mexico or anywhere they want.
Also unlike his cohorts he did not scold and label the natives evil for worshiping diwatas and anitos.
He was fond of the Philippines even though he knew that it is not popular as other places. His admiration for the Visayan people made him study the Visayan culture, languages, and geography.
Based on the census that he conducted Central Luzon was the most populated re
A Chronology of Lorca's Visit to New York and Cuba
Daniel Eisenberg
Florida State University
Despite the ever-increasing interest in the life and works of Federico García Lorca; scholars have not devoted attention in recent years to his visit to the New World in This is surely explained by the fact that we have had for many years two studies of that visit, Ángel del Río's introduction to Ben Belitt's bilingual edition of Poet in New York1, and the book, Federico García Lorca, of John Crow2. Both of these, however, were written a generation ago, and lack the details and precision which are found in more recent studies of other periods of Lorca's life, and both are based almost exclusively on the memories of the authors, without any attempt to supplement these from written records. As a result, although Lorca's first trip outside of Spain is well-known in its general outlines, it is one of the periods about which detailed information is most lacking3. For example, while it is known that Lorca gave some lectures in the United States, no one has been able to specify accurately their titles or subjects, or even whether they were given
