Who is Josef Mengele?
Josef Mengele, often referred to as the "Angel of Death," was a German SS officer and physician during World War II, infamous for his inhumane medical experiments conducted on concentration camp inmates. Born on March 16, , in Günzburg, Bavaria, Mengele pursued medicine and anthropology, ultimately becoming a fervent supporter of Nazi ideology. His belief in racial purity and the superiority of the Aryan race motivated many of his horrific actions and decisions. He joined the Nazi Party in , leading to his eventual appointment at Auschwitz, where he wielded immense power over the lives and deaths of countless individuals.

Bei dem Münchener Anthropologen Theodor Mollison () promoviert er zum Dr. phil. mit dem Thema "Rassenmorphologische Untersuchung des vorderen Unterkieferabschnitts bei vier rassischen Gruppen".
Mengele legt die medizinische Staatsprüfung ab und leistet für vier Monate sein Medizinalpraktikum an der Kinderklinik der Universität Leipzig.

Josef Mengele wurde als erster von drei Söhnen von Walburga und Karl Mengele, Maschinenbauingenieur und Besitzer eines großen Landmaschinenbetriebs, geboren und wuchs in einem wirtschaftlich wohlhabenden und politisch konservativ-deutschnationalen Milieu auf. Seit studierte er Medizin und Anthropologie in München, Bonn und Wien. wurde er an der Universität München beim Direktor des Münchner Anthropologischen Instituts, Theodor Mollison, zum Dr. phil. promoviert. Im Sommer legte er das medizinische Staatsexamen ab. Auf Empfehlung Mollisons arbeitete Mengele ab am Institut für ‚Erbbiologie und Rassenhygiene‘ der Universität Frankfurt am Main, das von Otmar Freiherr von Verschuer geleitet wurde. Dort erfolgte seine Promotion zum Dr. med. Beide Doktorgrade wurden Mengele wegen seiner im KZ Auschwitz begangenen Verbrechen bzw. aberkannt. Zum 1.
