Ivor Bolton ist einer der angesehensten Dirigenten im Bereich des barocken und klassischen Repertoires. Seine musikalischen Aktivitäten sind jedoch ungleich vielseitiger. So spielte er mit dem Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, dessen Chefdirigent er 12 Jahre lang war, eine vielbeachtete und von der Presse hochgelobte Serie von Bruckner-Symphonien ein. Seit ist er Musikdirektor des Teatro Real Madrid, wo er u.a. die vom Magazin „Opernwelt“ ausgezeichnete Produktion von Brittens „Billy Budd“. leitete. Mit dem Sinfonieorchester Basel, dessen Chefdirigent er seit Herbst ist, spielte er eine Reihe von Werken Gabriel Faurés auf CD ein.
Ivor Bolton ist weiterhin Ehrendirigent des Mozarteumorchesters Salzburg und tritt mit ihm regelmäßig bei den Salzburger Festspielen und auf Tourneen auf. Weiters ist er Chefdirigent des Dresdner Festspielorchesters und erfreut sich einer engen Beziehung zur Bayerischen Staatsoper, wo er seit eine Reihe von Neuproduktionen geleitet hat, insbesondere mit Werken von Monteverdi, Hände
Following his debut in , he developed a special bond with the Bayerische Staatsoper München. The English composer received the Bayerische Theaterpreis for his work in the Bavarian capital. In , Bolton made his debut at ROH Covent Garden. At the Glyndebourne Opera Festival, he conducted Händel’s Saul, and at the Salzburger Festspiele, he conducted Gluck’s Iphigénieen Tauride, three Mozart operas, Haydn’s Armida and Händel’s Theodora. Since , Ivor Bolton has been musical director of the Teatro Real in Madrid, and from the beginning of he has fulfilled the same role with the Sinfonieorchester Basel. From to , he was principal conductor of the Mozarteumorchester in Salzburg. He is a regular guest with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the opera houses of Paris, Hamburg, Brussels, Geneva, Dresden and Leipzig. He has conducted A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Brussels), Peter Grimes (Dresden), Albert Herring, The Turn of the Screw (Salzburg) and OwenWingrave (Glyndebourne). The German-British soprano Claire Elizabeth Craig was born in Ulm, Germany and was a pre-college singing student of Maria de Francesca-Cavazza at the University of Music and Drama, Munich.
After her A-Levels she began with her studies in Voice, Opera and Lied at the University Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria, with Barbara Bonney.
As part of the Young Singers Project of the Salzburger Festspiele Claire was cast as an Elf in Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummernight’s Dream”. She performed the role of Bubikopf in Ullmann’s “Der Kaiser von Atlantis” at the Landestheater Innsbruck, then appeared as Marzelline in a production of Beethoven’s “Fidelio” in Vienna.
Since completing her Master of Arts degree with distinction she has been invited as a soloist to renowned festivals such as the Salzburger Festspiele, Mozartwoche, Anima Mundi Festival, Dialoge Salzburg, Jeunesse Vienna and the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Opera and concert projects have led Claire to Italy, China, Cuba and Colombia.
