Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai
Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai is the former Chief Peace Negotiator of the Islamic Republic, prior to that he served as Chief of (NDS), Acting Minister of Defense, Head of the Joint Secretariat of High Peace Council, deputy to the Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration Commission DDR). In addition, he was responsible for the disbandment of Illegal Armed Groups (DIAG). Mr. Stanekzai served as Minister of Telecommunication and initiated the public-private partnership. Before this, he served as the head of an NGO and also as one of the first members of the Human Rights Commission.
Mr. Stanekzai has over 35 years of experience in different fields and sectors including security, development, International relations, humanitarian aid, and management of large-scale projects and programs.
Mr. Stanekzai holds a Master&#;s degree in philosophy of engineering for sustainable development from Cambridge University and a Master&#;s in business management from Preston University. Mohammad Massoom Stanekzai Massoom Stanekzai Masoum Stanikzai Masoom Stanekzai was born in Mughul Khel village of Mohammad Agha District of Logar Province and belongs to Pashtun Stanekzai tribe. He hails from a middle-class family as third child of Mahmood Khan a government servant, after high school graduation. As a young man, Stanakzai served in the Afghan army for a decade, where he worked his way up, eventually attaining the rank of Colonel in Communications.
