Jeanette Farr
Jeanette Farr, from Turlock, California, is a graduate of California State University Stanislaus, and holds an MFA in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in playwriting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her plays have been produced around the world including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland. Her work has been recognized by the Nevada Arts Council, The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
Jeanette has been commissioned by Sierra Repertory Theatre to adapt Yoshiko Uchida’s children’s story, Journey to Topaz for touring; her play, Blue Roses, based on the life of Rose Williams won the international playwriting competition for Prospect Theatre Project, and her play, Pitchin’ Pennies At the Stars was a finalist in the Mildred and Albert Pinowski Playwriting Competition. In Los Angeles, Jeanette has worked with Moving Arts (Car Play&#;s Series, and Mosaic Wonderland) as well as The Secret Rose Theatre and SkyPilot Theatre Company.

ONE ACT PLAY 3 : Gray Matter by Jeanettee
Introduction- Jeanettee is a contemporary American woman playwright. She has produced and directed a variety of plays. It is a short play about an encounter between an elderly White woman and a Black youth in the waiting room of a police station.
The Theme- Russell, a Black youth accuses Marge, a sixty six year old White woman of being racist but she denies it. By the end of the play, the woman realizes that appearances can be deceptive.
The Affected Youth- Russell walks into the police station. Marge is seated inside. Immediately, she moves her purse closer to herself. Russell is taken aback when he notices her quick reaction. He accuses Marge of distrusting him because of his colour.
Troubled Marge- Marge is very upset when Russell blames her. She pretends that she had only wanted to take a piece of gum from her purse. Russell asks for a piece of gum and Marge gets irritated. She had immediately assumed that he was a criminal because of his dark colour.
Russell&#;s Inquisitive Nature-Marge tries to excuse her actions by saying she was only making room for him by moving her purse away. Russell sits in the chair close

Jeanette Farr is a playwright, producer and director of new plays, and holds an MFA in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in playwriting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her plays have been produced both domestically and abroad including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, Canada, Singapore, and Japan. Her work has been recognized by the Nevada Arts Council, The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education. She is published through Dramatic Publishing, Smith & Kraus, Original Works Publishing, and online through and the New Play Exchange. An alumnus and guest artist of the Kennedy Center Summer Playwriting Intensive, and Tennessee Williams Scholar for the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, Jeanette of is a member of AntaeusPlaywrights Lab, serving on the Playwright’s Panel, and a member of The Playwrights’ Union in Los Angeles.
Through Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, she has served on numerous reading committees, in addition to serving as Chair of the National Playwriting Program. She has been commissioned by Sierra Repertory Theatre to adapt Yoshiko Uchida’s children’s story,

MAUREEN: Oh. A good spot, huh? To fish I mean.
BOB: That’s what they say.
MAUREEN: Catch anything?
BOB: Nah. Too cold, probably.
MAUREEN: Your first time?
BOB: Fishing?
MAUREEN: Here. Fishing here.
BOB: Sure is pretty. You zone out after a while looking at it all. Not much to see anymore, it’s getting dark. Nice chatting, though. So long.
MAUREEN: What about your son?
BOB: What? Oh. I’m sure he went back to the car already.
MAUREEN: The burgundy van, right?
